Get ready to “fite” every week with Jordon Fite who plays Aiyon on Power Rangers: Dino Fury, which is currently in its second season (29th season overall for the franchise).
The rising actor has made history as the first-ever African American Gold Power Ranger, being the 8th overall. Fite chatted with The Blast correspondent Ty Cole where he chats about the historic moment, shares a few beauty secrets, and reveals which Power Ranger alum he would love to see appear in the series.
Jordon Fite Makes History As The First-Ever African American Gold Power Ranger
While it is unfortunate that we are still in a world where Black firsts are still a thing, it’s great to see diversity and inclusion in some of our favorite programming we watched as children. Before Fite joined the cast and booked the role of Aiyon, who serves as the first African American Gold Power.
The actor told The Blast how he was “nervous” entering the Power Ranger family as it was a “very serious” role for him and didn’t realize how impactful being the first African American Gold Power Ranger was until now.
“Entering the Power Ranger family — I was very nervous as the fans were very serious and I needed to come in very serious as well,” he shared with us.
“As far as being the first African American Gold Ranger, I didn’t see it as a big deal at first until I was revealed in April 9th. I didn’t think being the first would be such a big deal, but to see how the fans received me and how the Ranger family reacted, I saw how serious it was. It’s already opened doors in my hometown [of Houston] getting recognized by big names and I hope it continues to open more doors. I’m just very thankful.”
Clearly, Houston is the place of legends with Megan thee Stallion, Beyoncé, and now Fite being able to show off their incredible skills to fans worldwide.
Jordon Fite Shares His Beauty Secrets
During the interview, we had to segue to discuss the skin regimen because the actor’s skin was very vibrant and radiant — so what’s the secret?
Fite lets us know one of his secrets is heading to the gym for a good workout.
“The secret is the gym,” he explains. “I’ve been going to the gym for the last two to three months and my skin has been healthy with my body feeling good. I go to the gym five days a week so Monday through Friday.”
Now I definitely a person who heads to the gym three times a week, but we’ll leave the five days a week to the Power Rangers for now.
Fite Reveals Which Power Ranger Alum He Wants To Bring Back To Fight With The New Cast
As the Power Ranger franchise continues to deliver us different incarnations every few years, one can’t help but have an all-time favorite series and of course, a favorite character that resonates with them. We’ve had the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Ninja Force, S.P.D., and so forth.
When we asked Fite, while he didn’t have a favorite franchise, he does reveal which Power Ranger alum he would like to see appear on the Dino Fury series.
“I love Rangers as a kid, but I don’t remember particularly which series I love,” he shared.
“I just knew it came on television and some roundhouse kicks were coming on television. Before I booked the show and went through the audition process after years of not watching, I would say Beast Morphers stood out to me because it was the franchise before mine. I would also say Mighty Morphin and Ninja Steel. And if I had to bring back any alum, I would go with Jason or Tommy from Mighty Morphin. You got to mix the old with the new.”
You can watch the full interview below and catch the first half of the second season now on Netflix.
